Padang, J-News - Andalas University has a dormitory facility as a living place for the new students. Particularly, it is for Bidikmisi Scholarship students. Likewise, non-Bidikmisi Scholarship students can register to live in dormitory by paying the living cost. There are also students from Afirmasi program and some foreign students. The students will stay in dormitory about 28 weeks or 10 month - except for foreign students, some of them are stay in dormitory until their study finished.
      Andalas University Dormitories are placed strategically because it is not really far to the A to I college buildings. It took about 10-20 minutes by foot and 2-5 minutes by transportations.
      The dormitories are located in this Green Campus environment. It is going through passing the Unand Gate and then turn to the left of the intersection near at Pusat Kegiatan Mahasiswa (PKM) building. There are two dormitories for man and three dormitories for woman. The man dormitories place are next to the right of Buisiness Center (BC), Roesma M. Sjaaf and Menpera Dormitory. The woman dormitories place are one behind the PKM, RPX Dormitory and the other two are next to the left of BC, Hijau and Orange Dormitory. There is also a new dormitory building between Menpera and RPX Dormitory named Rusunawa Universtas Andalas but it is not used yet.
      Mr. Hasdi, the Unand dormitory manager stated dormitory is a great place for student. It is important to creat a good student with academist, activist and idealist character.
      "Dormitory is not a common living place. It is full of dynamics because who live in the dormitory is the students of agent of change, iron stock, and moral force for the nation and country. So, it is a necessity for the dormitory to creat the situation in it for academic, activist and idealist student." Mr. Hasdi told me.
      In the dormitory, the students will get some guides by the contructors and companions - usually they are called Uda. There are some programs such as Subuh Mubarokah, Liqo or mentoring, etc. and also Asosiasi Mahasiswa Asrama (AMA) as the organisation. AMA would be the first step for students to learn about organization which before they never active in  an organization.
      Mr. Hasdi explained the programs is very useful to motivate the students and the organization is very important to support it all.
      "AMA is very important to support it all to make activist and idealist students." Mr. Hasdi said.
