Stopping Myself for Playing Game is Not Enough
In this second semester, I
have resolution to encourage myself to stop playing games. This resolution is
aimed to manage myself to use my time wisely. I want to read book, study, do my
homework and filling my leisure time with some useful activities. Yes, I
managed to stop from playing games but my purposes of it is not. The reason I cannot
reach that purposes is because of the dope from social media. Although it gives
me dissatisfactory impact, I also take the advantage from it.
Social media is like a Loranthus. It takes all of my time. I should not blame this parasite but myself. I
cannot stop my thumb licking on the screen. Once, I received an Instagram
notification and I checked it. Then, I looked for some posts such as
interesting or funny memes and videos. Without checking on the clock, I found
that I have spent so much time until night whereas I was doing my homework. It
happens many a time. So, I oftentimes not finish my homeworks and submit it
timely. Eventually, social media gives me crap.
Social media is my favourite
teacher. Beside the interesting videos and funny memes, I generally follow the
users with English content. Beside wasting time until neglecting my homework, I
as well learn English with it. I practice listening and learn new vocabularies
with it. I feel the improvement to myself. I sometimes test my listening skill.
I try to listen to an English joke. If it cracks me up, it means that I feel
the improvement in my listening skill. Furthemore, in social media, I learn
about new cultures around the world, try to update with the news and listen to
da’wah and other Islam lessons. Of course, everything is with English. After
all, social media is very helpful for me to improve my English.
In short, I feel stopping myself from playing game is
not enough because social media is more addictive than the game. It helps me to
improve my English but it has more loss than benefit. It makes me waste my
time. I think I should make a new resolution for the next semester. I shall
control myself to use social media and change this habit to use myself to read
the book.
